A quick reflection (before we talk plants)
As I’m sitting here writing this, I’m at our church watching the kids practice for tomorrow’s Children’s Christmas Service. One of the church members pointed out how much my kids have grown — and man… that hit me right in the heart.
Reflecting on that moment, words can’t describe how blessed we are. And hearing the message of our Savior Jesus? That’s second to none.
Now to the blog topic… what a week for the indoor garden
Alright — indoor garden update time. It’s been a solid week, and I’ve got a bunch of things moving in the right direction. The kind of week where you’re like, “Okay… we’re cooking now.” 😄
Microgreens trial: dirt vs clay pebbles
My microgreens trial (do they grow better in dirt or clay pebbles?) is going well. I’m still letting it run a bit longer, but I’m expecting to share the results with you soon.
I love doing stuff like this because it keeps it fun — and honestly, I’m always looking for ways to make the indoor garden more consistent.
Lettuce harvests = instant wins
I harvested a few rounds of lettuce this week. We used it for lunch sandwiches, and then we used it for dinner BLTs. Fresh indoor lettuce just hits different… and it makes you feel like a wizard when it’s snowing outside. 😂
Hydroponic tomatoes are rocking (mostly)
My hydroponic tomatoes are rocking — 2 out of the 3 plants are doing really well. I’ll be honest though, I’ll probably lose the 3rd plant… and that’s exactly why I always plant more than I want.
I swear I run about a 33% loss rate sometimes. It’s not a failure — it’s just the reality of trying stuff, learning, and staying in motion.
Split or let grow? Y’all answered… let it grow
Remember when I asked about splitting or letting it grow? You all answered: let it grow. So that’s what we’re doing — and we’re going to see what it does.
If you want to know what I’m talking about, make sure you’re following me on social, and check out this short:
Where are my sauerkraut lovers at?
Alright… where are my sauerkraut lovers at? I made sauerkraut a few months ago and I will tell you what — I will never buy it again. Once you make your own, store-bought just doesn’t stand a chance.
If you want to make it, here you go:
New nursery posts + dome = more seedlings coming
I also got some new nursery posts with a dome. I’ll be starting some more plants this weekend for the indoor garden — probably more greens, green onions, and something new that I’ve never tried.
I don’t know what it is yet… but I’ll figure it out when I do. 😄 Follow along and I’ll post updates.
Weather check
The week started out with a lot of snow, and now we’re ending it with a very, very cold front coming in. Stay warm and stay safe, my friends.
Final Thoughts
Between the church moment, the indoor garden wins, and the cold weather rolling in — it’s one of those weeks that reminds you to slow down and appreciate what you’ve got.
Until next time… KeepGrowing. 🌿
